Much Needed Help For Detroit Family
Diamond Williams, Age 6 of Detroit was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma on November 12, 2004. Neuroblastoma is a cancer of the sympathetic nervous system – a nerve network that carries messages from the brain throughout the body. Its tumors, which take form of a lump or mass, commonly begin in one of the adrenal glands, though they can also develop in nerve tissues in the neck, chest abdomen or pelvis. She has had numerous relapses since her diagnosis. On July 23, 2007 she was placed in hospice care. Diamond is one of 5 children to Charles and Stacy Williams. Diamond’s 7 year old brother has Cerebral Palsy with a mild case of brain damage. Charles lost his job due to the amount of time he missed with Diamond’s medical needs. On September 13, 2007 a grant was awarded to the Williams family. The grant will provide financial assistance with mortgage, furnace repair, new winter coats/boots for all of the children and a $500 grocery card. In addition we found Charles a new job and we have made arrangements with the family to take care of Diamond’s funeral expenses.
Timothy's Fight
Timothy Larson is a 3 year old little boy who was diagnosed with stage four Rhabdomyosarcoma in July 2006. This is a fast growing highly malignant tumor. This is a very difficult cancer to treat. He has been undergoing intensive chemotherapy and recently had a bone marrow transplant. This will be followed by a tandem transplant. Timothy will require significant hospital care, which requires Timothy’s parents to remain on the campus of Children’s Hospital of Michigan. Mr. Tim Larson, Timothy’s father has been unable to maintain a consistent work schedule due to the extensive treatments. With an aggressive treatment schedule for July and August, a grant was awarded to the Larson family on July 18, 2007. This grant paid their mortgage payments for the month of July 07 and August 07.
Hitting Close to Home
In April of this year it was announced that Collin Stempniewski, the 2 year old son of Greg & Kathleen Stempniewski (Hockney) was diagnosed with Leukemia. The Hockney and Stempniewski families wish to thank all of you for all of your kind thoughts and prayers. Kathleen is the treasurer of our foundation and one of Rosemary Hockney’s eight children.

Collin is currently receiving treatment at the Van elslander Cancer Center and he has regained the ability to walk on his own. Collin continues to display amazing courage as he deals with the daily challenges of his diagnosis. Recently Collin attended a horse camp for children with cancer, which was provided by our friends at Camp Casey. Collin was also a guest of Camp Casey at a recent Tiger game where he was able to meet Tiger greats Al Kaline and Ivan Rodriguez. Camp Casey is a one day, mobile horseback riding retreat for children with cancer and their families.
