A Special Gift |
Detroit Tigers second baseman Placido Polanco & his wife Lilly recently joined us on a visit to Children’s Hospital. Each of the kids were given Foundation Teddy Bears and signed gifts from Placido. The Detroit Tigers are committed to making a difference in the lives of children throughout our community. Thank you to Sam Abrams and the entire Detroit Tigers organization for working with us and facilitating player visits for us at the hospital. Through the Tigers Dreams Come True Program ™ we are also able to make special arrangements for terminally ill cancer patients for an on the field pre-game visit with Tiger players. |
A Night of Hope 2007 |
Hope filled the hearts of more than 600 attendees as over $100,000 was raised for the Rosemary A. Hockney Memorial Foundation during our annual A Night of Hope dinner. During the event, guests were given a glimpse into the lives of the families we worked with over the past year that battled cancer through a video presentation. The dinner began with Joe and Coleen Giniel, the presenting speakers of the event, whose 4 year old son Jack lost his battle with cancer on November 11, 2006. “To hear these stories is to truly understand the vital importance of the work that the Rosemary Hockney Foundation is funding,” said Robin Sanderson, Co-Founder of the foundation. “The message hit home – every year we have doubled the amount raised from the previous year, but there is still more work to be done. And we will not stop until a cure is found.”
Funds raised through the dinner will help support our numerous outreach programs. Special thanks to Robert Manning and The Detroit Sports Gallery for serving as our platinum sponsor. Additionally, we would like to thank the many sponsors, donors and supporters who made A Night of Hope 2007 a tremendous success. Thank You Pudge |
In 1993, Detroit Tigers All-Star catcher, Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez formed the Ivan "Pudge" Rodriguez Foundation. For the past 12 years, The Ivan Rodriguez Foundation has taken pride in helping families in the communities in which Rodriguez and his family have lived. During this time, the foundation has contributed to organizations supporting children with cancer and their families, provided scholarships for children and assisted youth-serving organizations.
On October 28, 2005, Ivan and his foundation presented The Rosemary A. Hockney Memorial with a check for $5,000.00. |
