“Run For the Children”
October 21, 2007

Join us in supporting children whose lives have been affected by cancer.

The Rosemary A. Hockney Memorial Foundation

The Rosemary A. Hockney Memorial Foundation is an IRS recognized 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization. The foundation was established in 2004 in memory of Rosemary Hockney who lost her battle with colorectal cancer. The foundation provides assistance to children of families whose lives have been affected by cancer. All of our resources come from people like you: business leaders, community groups and concerned citizens who are committed to changing the impact that cancer has on children and those who love and care for them.

Our mission is to improve the quality of life for children diagnosed with cancer and their families
by providing financial, advocacy and support services
The Run
This flat/fast Boston qualifying course is diverse and exciting for all marathoners, half marathoners and relay team members. The course will run through Cork town – Detroit’s Irish settlement dating back to the early 1800s and Mexican town with several lively salsa bands sending runners across the border for the first time at the Ambassador Bridge. On the return to the US via the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, runners will go around Belle Isle – a beautiful park and island on the Detroit River before entering Indian Village with outrageous block parties and finally through Greek town before entering the tunnel to finish at Ford Field. Proof of citizenship is required for the event.

• The race is open to both runners and walkers age 16 and over who are able to complete the 26.2-mile course within a 7-hour time limit. The half marathon is open to runners and walkers age 13 and over who are able to complete the 13.1-mile course in a 4 hour time limit. There is also a 5k Fun Run and Fitness Walk. There is something for any individual wanting to participate in this celebration of fun and fitness.

• Each individual participant will be required to raise a minimum contribution of $300 by race day. The contribution will be donated to The Rosemary A. Hockney Memorial Foundation.

• Participants must complete the registration form in full, and mail or fax with the non-refundable registration fee. Registration must be made through the Detroit Free Press Marathon. The early registration fee will be honored until 8/31/2007 for the participants who are raising money for The Rosemary A. Hockney Memorial Foundation.

• Each participant will be responsible for any balance of the minimum required still outstanding on race day.
